I Am Learning HTML

I am learning some H.T.M.L.! It’s fun, but kind of difficult. I am trying to make a website for the men’s basketball team at the college that I work at. When the site looks better and is more complete, I’ll post the link for y’all to see!

Mathematics Can Be Crazy!

How many people out there think that math is just plain wild sometimes? I think that basic formulas are usually fairly easy to figure out, but complex ones can be challenging. I could do the simple math, but many textbooks, when I was in high school, did not adequately show enough examples. Therefore, there were a couple of easy math problems in the assignment, but then the text would throw us a “Nolan Ryan curveball” if you will, that would be tough.

Duke Alums and Their Teams Win Game 1 Round 2!

Monday was a great evening for two Duke University Basketball alumni!

J.J. Redick posted double digits with 12 points, as he and the Orlando Magic upset favored Boston on Monday night to take a 1-0 series lead in the 2nd round of the N.B.A.’s 2009 playoffs, while Shane Battier hit all 4 of his foul shots, along with dishing out 3 assists in helping his Houston Rockets upset the favored Los Angeles Lakers to take a 1-0 lead in the series!

Great job, guys!

Civil War Reenactment

This past Saturday, there was a Civil War Days re-enactment going on about a mile away from my house. I had heard that there would be battle scenes, so I stayed away, because the battle scenes are so loud due to all of the cannons and other weaponry.

I instead went for a walk at a site about 2 miles away from the re-enactment site, thinking that if I was 2 miles away, the noise wouldn’t travel that far, but yet it did, it sounded like firecrackers going off, and I could hear it clear as a bell. I feel so bad for homeowners living near the re-enactment site. If I were them, I would have gone away for the weekend.

Celtics Win Game 7!

I don’t watch many N.B.A. games straight through because I am usually doing other things, but I follow in-game box scores and Game Trackers online, and read some of the post-game recaps and boxscores. My opinion on this Bulls-Celtics series is WOW!!! what a series! Game 7 didn’t have quite the same drama that earlier games did, but this was still a series for the ages!

I think if the Bulls can get more scoring from their power forward and center, they’ll be even better! Center Joakim Noah had 15 boards, but he and Tyrus Thomas didn’t score as many points as guys like John Salmons, Ben Gordon, and Derrick Rose did.

What a neat season though, for the Bulls! Vinny DelNegro did a great job in his first coaching job, and I think that the guys really battled.  44-45 might not look like the best record on paper, but folks, this was a ballclub that was 18-27 after a loss to the Timberwolves in late January, so I think they fought back well. Derrick Rose was SENSATIONAL this season.

Being a big Duke fan and Luol Deng fan, it was painful for me to see that his season ended prematurely due to injury. He would have really helped the Bulls a ton, so I hope his injury heals up really soon.

I like a lot of N.B.A. teams though, and so it will be fun to watch and see who takes the championship. The game needs many more rounds of playoffs as tightly-contested as this Bulls-Celtics round was. We need to get the game back to the neat point it was at when Michael Jordan played!

Wikipedia’s Description of Charlie Brown

The online encyclopedia says he’s a lovable loser. I wonder who authored that part of the article. It’s true, while he may not have the most success, he’s certainly a favorite cartoon character of many!
