LASIK PROCEDURE

April 25, 2008 clintjohnson 1 comment

I read this on MSNBC.

Colin Dorrian was a college student when he was told he wasn’t a good Lasik candidate, but went ahead anyway — and his father, Gerald, described six years of eye pain and blurred vision before reading his son’s suicide note to a Food and Drug Administration panel: “I can’t and won’t continue facing this horror.”

A couple observations: Now be quick to correct me, because there’s probably something obvious I am not seeing.

1.) I am very sorry, Mr. Dorrian, at the pain you suffered as a result of Colin’s suicide. I know several families who have dealt with suicide. It hurts, and it hurts so badly… it is horror for relatives.

2.) But it sounds like the docs told Colin he was not a good candidate. Yes, he has rights as a patient, but doctors aren’t dumb. They obviously knew it might not work for him, so they told him that.

3.) Isn’t that kind of like telling a child that his/her hand might get burned if he/she touches a stove, and then them deciding to do it anyways. Colin knew he was not a good candidate, and he did it anyways. So, while I feel sorry for your pain, for Colin’s pain I would have said “They told you so”. It’s kinda like being told you’re not a good lyposuction candidate, and then saying “Hey, I want it anyways”, and then suffering massive internal bleeding. Did the doctors not tell you so?

Politicians HAVE NO CLASS WHATSOEVER!

April 23, 2008 clintjohnson Leave a comment

It’s sad, really sad. I detest all of this attacking of character and the like. As a politician, focus on what makes you unique. Sell yourself based on your experiences. Talk about your life. Use your life experiences to give voters a clear picture of why they should vote for you. Please refrain from all of the negative criticisms of your opponents.

Now, I know this will not happen. However, I would think more highly of every candidate if they could run uber-positive campaigns. State what you believe, and why you believe it with regard to policies. Our society does not need all of this “character-attacking” and the like. I do not desire to hear if “Candidate A” questions “Candidate B’s” character. I want to know what their stances are on the issues, and that’s all.

But they can’t and won’t do that… because they want to be president like your dogs want your dinner!

Dilated Eyes

April 22, 2008 clintjohnson Leave a comment

I underwent an eye examination today. I love the people who are responsible for my eye care at Grossnickle Eye Center. They are fantastic people and provide me with EXCELLENT care. The one thing that is wild though, is getting my eyes dilated. It does a number on me for a couple of hours until my pupils shrink. I will soon have brand new eyeglasses though, and so that will be fun!

Snow in April?

April 13, 2008 clintjohnson Leave a comment

Warsaw Community Schools patrons who went on Spring Break this past week are coming back to snow…. Now, it’s not a ton, but if I, with my poor eyesight can see it, it’s snow!

It is getting a bit late in the year for it to still be snowing.

MY LINKS

I’m having tons of fun building my links. I surf so many sites. Eventually, I’d like to have most of them on here so that you can surf them from this page as well. Does anyone know if WordPress limits how many categories and links a site can have? I sure hope it’s unlimited!

The “Yearning for Zion” ranch in Texas

Cults intrigue me. No, I don’t desire to be in one, as that would be going against all that the Bible teaches. I think it would be so cool, though, to be at a compound and see how daily life works. The F.L.D.S. compound down in Eldorado, Texas, intrigues me. No, I am not happy to hear of all the abuse that goes on at the compound. That’s disgusting! Although I guess that is part of what makes them a cult. I wouldn’t want to see any of the abuse/molestation taking place, though. That would be graphic and would be offensive to see. What I would like to see, is how the people treat each other in carrying out all of the other aspects of their day. There is a doctor’s office there. I would want to see whether it’s like any other physician’s office, or different. The people appear to resemble Amish or Mennonite folks in the way they dress from the pictures I have seen.

The temple they have built looks interesting as well. Here is a photograph of it.

I think that it would be interesting to be a journalist studying a cult, as long as I did not have to participate in the “cultish” things that the Lord would not approve of.
